CT AFL-CIO Cleanses Itself of Bonds

After years of raising the issue unionists in CT were able to persuade AFL-CIO leaders to sell-off their Israel bonds The issue was raised at several conventions, brought up by activists whenever union officials attended anti-war meetings and privately at dinners and the like. The AFL-CIO had several tens of thousnda of dollars in Israel bonds.

In the spring [2010] the bonds matured. Normally the union would "roll them over", meaning they'd take the money and buy new bonds. Instead this year union officers quietly declined the "privilege".
