CT AFL-CIO Cleanses Itself of Bonds
After years of raising the issue unionists in CT were able to persuade AFL-CIO leaders to sell-off their Israel bonds The issue was raised at several
conventions, brought up by activists whenever union officials attended anti-war meetings and privately at dinners and the like. The AFL-CIO had several tens of thousnda of
dollars in Israel bonds.
In the spring the bonds matured. Normally the union would "roll them over", meaning they'd take the money and buy new bonds. Instead
this year union officers quietly declined the "privilege".
